The Runecrafting skill was implemented to Cabbage several months after the servers initial launch. Players are able to start training the skill after completing the Rune Mysteries quest. At this time, only runes up to Nature-Runes are able to be created. The Law and Death-Rune altars are present in the games code, however their correspondent Talismans are currently unreleased.

Rune Stones

Rune Stones are blank rune rocks essentially that can be bound at various altars throughout Runescape to turn them into the runes needed to case magical spells. Rune Stones can be mined in special place accessible after completing the Rune Mysteries quest. To access this place you must be teleported by Aubury (Rune shop NPC just south of Varrock's East Bank) or by Wizard Sedridor who is found in the basement of the Wizard's tower.

Talismans / Altars

Talismans currently cannot be purchased in any NPC shop but are tradeable and can be sold in the Auction House. Players can make their own Talismans by using a chisel on a 'Rune Stone' to make a 'Uncharged talisman'. The player then can use 10 of a single type of rune on the talisman to charge it (player will lose the 10 runes).

Current and planned Talismans (and their respective altars) include:

Buffing Talismans / Experience Bonus

There are additional ways you can use talismans that provide bonus experience when crafting runes. These two ways are by making either cursed or enfeebled talismans.

To make these either cast the magic spell "curse" or the spell "enfeeble" on a normal talisman.

Cursed Talismans:

  • Bonus Experience: 2x
  • Talisman Breaks When Used: Yes
  • Runes That Are Crafted Kept: Yes
  • Runecraft Level Temporarily Drained: No
  • Take Hitpoint Damage: No

Enfeebled Talismans:

  • Bonus Experience: 2x
  • Talisman Breaks When Used: Yes
  • Runes That Are Crafted Kept: Yes
  • Runecraft Level Temporarily Drained (see below): Yes
  • Take Hitpoint Damage: Yes

Drained Runecraft Effect: It is possible and very likely that a drained Runecrafting level can prevent you from using Cursed or Enfeebled talismans. Both of which require higher levels than the base to make their respective runes to use. Runecraft or Super Runecraft potions can help recover from this effect when power-training.
