Harvesting is a custom skill released on the RSC Cabbage game type. This skill and associated content are not available on the original/authentic build of Runescape Classic, referred to as RSC Preservation. It is not to be mistaken with the skill seen in later versions of RuneScape where it was referred to as Farming.

Overview

The harvesting skill is used by the player to obtain various items such as vegetables, fruits, berries and herbs. Fruits and vegetables may be consumed in order to restore hitpoints, or sold and traded to other players. Berries and herbs are particularly useful for training the herblaw skill.

To harvest, a player first needs to determine which kind of spot they want to get produce from. Players may also decide to use the various harvesting tool items while training the skill, in order to make their harvesting more efficient. It should be noted that it is possible to continue harvesting without the use of these tools. See below for more information.

Getting started

Pick up tools from one of the gardeners (see below) and make your way to the allotments near Draynor Village or northern Ardougne.

To harvest from a spot left click on the spot you wish to collect from. If the spot still has produce, there is a chance you will extract it if your harvesting is high enough to obtain that particular type of produce. The produce is quite hard to get out of the spots so it might take you a few attempts to be successful.

Note that sometimes for fruit trees, bushes and allotments there's a chance they become 'weak' needing either soil or water. You will 'sense' something is off, and will automatically apply either a bucket of soil on them, or water them using a watering can if you have the items in your inventory. Failing to add these items will cause the node to 'skip' a produce cycle, where doing what's needed gives a 3 minute immunity state.

As your Harvesting level goes up, you'll find you get higher success rates when trying to pick produce.

Herb clipping

Herb clipping is a bit of the 'odd one off'. A herb spot may supply you with any herb, except Torstol, provided you have the level to harvest it. Herbs that spawn in the spot depend on the rarity they are normally received as drop – so you may find it a bit challenging to get the higher level herbs! These can only spawn in holy grounds near the White Druids.

Fatigue

Harvesting is a fatigue skill which means as you harvest your character will slowly tire and eventually need to find a bed to rest on. This only applies to worlds having fatigue enabled. Fatigue can be enabled on and off by sleeping in a bed.

NPCs

'Gardener' NPCs can be found wandering the various Kingdoms castles:

  • Varrock
  • Lumbridge
  • Camelot
  • Ardougne

Other locations include:

  • Yanille - garden
  • Hemenster

Harvesting Tools

Harvesting tools can be purchased from any of the Gardener NPCs found around the distinct Kingdom Castles:

  • Lumbridge
  • Varrock
  • Camelot
  • Hemenster
  • Ardougne
  • Yanille

Uses of Harvesting tools:

  • Fruit Picker – Allows the player to harvest (better) fruit trees, palms and plants
  • Hand shovel – Allows the player to harvest (better) bushes and allotments
  • Herb clippers – Required to “clip” herbs and snape grass
  • Watering can – allows the player to make a harvesting spot be “stronger” and has a small chance for the player to not deplete it. When you feel the spot is weak you will water it and it will remain watered for 3 minutes while you remain on the node. One watering can holds 4 uses and can be refilled at a sink when empty.

Soil

Buckets of soil allow the player to make a harvesting spot “stronger". This adds a small chance the player will obtain an additional produce item. When the spot is weak and a bucket of soil is in the player's inventory, the soil will automatically be applied and the spot will retain its 'soiled' state for 3 minutes while the player remains on the node. A player may use an empty bucket on a soil mound to get more soil. Two soil mounds are found in Catherby near the flax fields, and one soil mound is in the Ardougne allotment.

Empty buckets can be found in small quantities at General Stores. Large quantities of empty buckets may be gathered faster by purchasing Water-Filled Buckets at Shantay Pass (which sells them in higher quantities) and emptying them of water by using them with dry clay.

Produce spots

Below are lists of produce spots. Please note that any experience numbers given are for a 1X experience-rate. Default cabbage-players will get 5x these numbers.

Also, numbers are per harvest. While the object you're harvesting from doesn't deplete, you'll keep picking. The respawn time only applies upon deletion, not in between individual harvests.
